about Shueh-li
I'm an Australian born Singapore artist amongst many other things. Currently based in the U.S.A. I had the privilege of working in the multimedia industry during the IT boom in Singapore where I headed the development of a line of award-winning music-edutainment CDs for the retail market. A java based cyber playhouse for experimental research into interactive online gaming, was also incorporated by the team as part of this project.
I decided one day that what I really wanted to do was music, so I became the owner and Director of Electric Muse Singapore (EM). EM quickly gained a reputation for being able to provide customized instrumentation and show design for live entertainment and theatre. My reward for my hard work was the acceptance by the artistic community of me as an authority on various performance genres. During the early days of EM, I wrote two electronic operas (dramatico works), original music for theatre and even found time to contribute reviews and articles to Singapore's premier "Arts Magazine."
ElectricMuse USA is a publishing member of ASCAP USA (see affilliations on the sidebar.)
Before my Singaporean IT engagement, I was in an area of research that melded real-time graphic generation in live performance utilising extended synthesizer techniques. This took place in Australia where I also co-ran a studio that worked on film & TV projects.
In 2004, I decided to go out on a limb again by launching show concept Xenovibes (XV). I wanted to address the definition of my 'sound'. I also simply loved entertaining and working with musicians from all walks of life. XV aka foreign+expressions, has performed at various prestigious events and I have had the privilege of being the first thereminist at some of these venues/occasions.
See reviews and articles on Xenovibes and a list of Artists I've had the honour of working with on XV.
Since my arrival in America in 2005, I have partnered with John A Martinez of Fingerfoot Music Productions USA (FMP) taking on the role of FMP's managing director. John who participated in the premier of Xenovibes the Show in Singapore, is XV's U.S. core member.
In 2009 I became the U.S. writer to Singaporean news-blog SonicFreakz which reports on all things associated with music for its mainly S E Asian region readers.
I have traveled extensively to perform and lecture and in 2010 will continue to do more performing either on a formal stage on in a house concert situation. I want to bring myself and my work to you!
For a peek into my world, subscribe to my youtube channel OceanaChine. I hope to continue to pursue my proverbial rainbow; which is to stretch and exercise my talents.
