SPRING TOUR REPORT :
KNOXVILLE 24 april & 16 may ’13
I had a blast driving up to Knoxville & Asheville.
My 1st stop; Preservation Pub for the Star Trek Theme Party. I also had the winner of the Play the theremin with Shueh-li contest, Christy Coleman, on stage with me. Oh what fun!
As fate would have it, an allergy started my nose running during setup. Fortunately all was well when the party began!
N.B. I was invited by Preservation Pub to be part of a 3 x female-fronted band night, in conjunction with Mail Order Bride month on the 24 April. I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t wait to return for the Start Trek Party.
BLACK MOUNTAIN NC 17 may ’13
My 2nd stop was White Horse Black Mountain NC, a beautiful and scenic 3hr drive from Knoxville. I had a ball of a time.
White Horse is a gorgeous venue with great acoustics.
Co-managers Bob and Don, and Crystal (behind the bar) treated me with much kindness and graciousness (by the time I was ready to play I had a stuffy nose and very little vocal mid range).
The audience was one of the best I’ve had the fortune of playing to!
ASHEVILLE NC 18 may ’13
My 3rd stop was the Electro – music festival at the Masonic Temple.
By this time I was hoarse! But this was the least of my worries.
My laptop refused to boot up.
I had no contingency plan, and after much consultation with fellow thereminist, Kip Rosser, we reached out to Paul Harriman and Tony Gerber, to do a jam/improv session.
The audience loved it! It was so much fun I can’t wait to do it again!
MOOG FACTORY 20 may ’13
I visited the new Moog factory on my last day in Asheville, and caught up with old and new friends. The day ended with us in the Sound Lab, video recording various theremin clips.
Then it was time to go home.
I was coughing and feeling rather under the weather when I drove back to Nashville.
It took a month but I’m all better now. I’d like to thank all who supported me in making my mini Spring Tour a success!
